When Wednesdays 9.30-11.30
Cost € 1 per family suggested voluntary donation to cover costs of refreshments and crafts, and regular attendees are encouraged to join the playground (see www.vogelwijk.nl)
Website Vogelwijk Playgroup
They say The Vogelwijk Wednesday Morning Group, Vogelwijk Woensdagochtend Peutergroep as called in Dutch, is for international families to get together in Leiden. Our goal is to connect with other families and give our children a safe place to play under our own supervision. Parents, grandparents or carers are warmly welcomed with their babies, toddlers and young children. We speak predominantly English and Dutch, but have families from all over the world including Dutch families. Our venue has fantastic indoor and outdoor facilities.
Review This is a lovely welcoming group in a fantastic setting, with lots for children of all ages both out and inside. It has become rather an institution, in fact! A great opportunity to meet people in a warm and friendly atmosphere, with snacks and craft activities for the children and a (multi-lingual!) singing session to round off the morning
Getting there Bus 40 (Lijsterstraat stop, 5 mins walk) or about 15 mins walk from Leiden Centraal station

Bumps

Where Buurtcentrum Pancrat, Middelstegracht 85, 2312 TT Leiden

Review
Getting there The Buurtcentrum is near the Albert Heijn on the Hooigracht, almost opposite the parking garage at the back. That garage is probably the best place to park your car unless you have a permit for inner Leiden. Buses 5 and 6 stop the closest, on the Hooigracht.

Oegstgeest Family Group

Where Centrum Jeugd en Gezin, Lijtweg 7, Oegstgeest
When First and third Fridays of the month, 9.30-11.30, likely summer break, email alice@homeinleiden.nl or check the website () for more info
Cost € 1 per family suggested voluntary donation to cover costs of refreshments
Website Oegstgeest Family Life
They say There is a new weekly group open to everyone which started in June 2013 - the Oegstgeest Family Group . It's a walk-in tea/coffee/chat/children's play session, held in a child-friendly space with plenty of room and toys for babies and young children. We were inspired by the Wednesday playgroups in the Vogelwijk in Leiden; we'd like to make our Friday group in Oegstgeest just as friendly and helpful a place, where internationals and Dutch people help each other put down roots in their area.

Getting there 3mins walk from Lange Voort shopping centre (bus 186 Irislaan stop), also 5mins from Rhijngeesterstraatweg (bus 57 out of Leiden, stop Duinzichtweg). Loads of car parking at the Lange Voort a few metres away.

Review -
Getting there Bus 39 ( Sint Antoniushove stop)
NB. This is a group for mums to meet each other without the children - there is separate professional childcare for children aged 0-4, called Moppets, which is divided into four age classes. Infants under 5 months can stay in the mums group if they are not 'distracting'. The organization is Christian, and they are also looking for people interested in setting up their own group

Other groups

There are also lots of groups of various kinds in The Hague of course.
