Introduction

Finding the right school for your children can be one of the most daunting tasks for any international family. However, the standard is very high, so don't panic: you are in a country with a great reputation for education and a city with a wide choice of excellent schools!

When your children are two years of age, a brilliant and affordable way to prepare them for school and help them to integrate and learn the language is to start a couple of days a week at a preschool - see our extensive section preschools. This section gives a comprehensive overview of what happens next (after age 4) and how to navigate the system, as well as listings and reviews of local schools. The section has been written by Jessica and Alice, and please do email jessica@homeinleiden.nl if you have anything you would like to add: your input is greatly appreciated!
