Midwife Practices in Leiden (verloskundigen)

Most of the midwives speak at least some English, and whilst they are all different, are capable and very experienced in pregnancy and birth. Don't be surprised that they don't wear a uniform: I remember being most concerned, much to the amusement of my birth partners, that the lovely midwife who arrived to help with Quentin's birth was wearing a pretty white top, which I thought might get dirty. It didn't, as a matter of fact, and the non-wearing of uniforms fits with the Dutch way of doing things.
